Hereford Invited to Celebrate VE Day’s 80th Anniversary – Plan Your Own Street Party!

May 8th 2025 marks 80 years since Victory in Europe Day – a day of hope, remembrance, and celebration for communities across the UK. Hereford is proud to join the nation in honouring this historic moment – and you’re invited to take part!

This year, the City of Hereford will be commemorating VE Day with a series of community-led events, and you can get involved by hosting your very own neighbourhood street party. Whether it’s a garden gathering with bunting and scones or a full-on 1940s-themed celebration, we want to see our streets come alive with music, laughter, and unity – just as they did 80 years ago. Let us know if you are planning to have a Street Party! It’s a fantastic opportunity to honour the past, connect with neighbours, and bring a little old-fashioned community spirit back to the heart of Hereford.

How to take part:

– Organise a small community gathering with your neighbours.

– Decorate with Union Jacks, vintage touches, and VE Day themes.

– Share tea, cakes, wartime tunes, and stories of family history.

Let us know by April 30th to register your street party so we can share the details!

Let’s come together to remember the sacrifices made and celebrate the peace that followed. VE Day 80 is a time for all ages to reflect, unite, and make memories.
