For the unwary visitor, Hereford appears peaceful - just a rural city surrounded by beautiful, tranquil countryside. But for half its existence, it was a strategic centre on the often troubled and bloody border between England and Wales.

It can be no surprise that the city and its black-and-white buildings hide dark secrets and uncanny events. From the ghost of a verger who brought down the Cathedral tower to the unquiet spirit of a careless chemist, the city has a rich history of spectral phenomena.

Our walk takes you back in time and unveils the stories behind the modern-day sightings and happenings across Hereford. The re-telling of these stories will transform your perspective of the place, whether you are a resident or a tourist, making the Hereford Ghost Walk an intriguing experience.

Enjoy the chilling tales and haunted sites as you walk through the city's nighttime streets and dark paths with our resident expert and guide, Rebecca.

A little peak into the ghostly goings-on you will learn about:

  • A Welsh vampire that haunts a popular restaurant and bar.
  • Ghostly goings on at The Imperial.
  • The execution of Hugh Despenser in 1326.
  • Stand on the spot where Owen Tudor was executed during the War of the Roses and find out where he still lingers.
  • What happened in 1055 near the Queens arms.
  • Who is Mr Jenkins and hear what he did at the cathedral.
  • Did you know we had a Nun’s graveyard with a ghost of pregnant nun?
  • The Black Lion tales will chill you. This is our half way stop off point. Renowned for being one of the most haunted buildings in Hereford
  • Find out where Nell Gwynne she still walks by with King
  • Charles, the second one of course!
  • Have you heard the old lady grinding up bones? We may hear her on Saturday.
  • Learn about George Jones the ghost at the Lichfield Vaults.

The tour will last around 2 hours.
