An Evening with the Becket Reliquary
Friday 15 November, 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm

Hereford Cathedral holds an exquisite, enamelled reliquary of St Thomas Becket, one of a number made at Limoges in south-western France around the years 1200-1210, just decades after Becket’s martyrdom. It would originally have held a relic of the saint himself and would have been placed on the altar within Hereford Cathedral that was dedicated to Becket.

Tickets cost £12 to include a glass of wine and nibbles to be enjoyed in the Cathedral Café before or after the exhibition. There is limited capacity for this event, book your ticket via the cathedral website.

Choral Society

Saturday 16 November, 7.30 pm – 8.40 pm

From the very opening fanfare that demands we ‘Behold the sea itself’ Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony dramatically defines the oceans and the ships that have historically sailed upon them. The fanfare resolves into a completely unmistakable image of rolling waves and ships, ‘their white sails, bellying in the wind’. The steamers ‘steaming in or out of port’ excitedly herald what was, in Walt Whitman’s poem of 1855 (taken from Leaves of Life), a new and busy form of transport.
Tickets from £10 and can be purchased via Hereford Choral Society website: https://herefordchoralsociety.org/NovemberConcert.php.

Bereavement Café

Everyone is welcome to join us for an informal and friendly gathering for those who have been bereaved, recently or long ago. Run by volunteers, this is a welcoming environment to share experiences and support.
