Museum of Cider
Museums & Galleries
Hereford Cider Museum Trust is an Independent Charitable Trust (Charity number 1158061) and was founded in 1973 to preserve the history of cider making worldwide. The extensive collection includes cider mills, presses, bottles, old photographs, watercolors, advertising memorabilia and a rare collection of English lead crystal cider flutes. It is housed in the original 1888 Bulmer's factory, and it tells the story of cidermaking across Britain, although the local social history of course features very strongly.
The museum continues to collect artifacts associated with the history of cider making and has achieved Accreditation status (awarded by the Arts Council, England) for its standards of care applied to the collection.
The Archive of Cider Pomology (www.ArchiveOfCiderPomology.co.uk) is sponsored by the National Association of Cider Makers and provides a central repository for documents, books, images, maps, and oral histories. The archive provides research facilities on subjects including orcharding, cider, and perry production. To make an appointment to view the archive email collections@cidermuseum.co.uk
