Wellbeing, self-care, or positive mental health - whatever the label, busy business owners, managers and staff often lack the vital time to step back and put themselves first. In the dark months of January, combined with the effects of Covid on trade, it has never been more important to look after ourselves. The Hereford BID might be able to help a little here with an exclusive offer just for you!

Throughout January to the end of March, we are offering each of our member businesses the chance to benefit from a Wellbeing Session, including massage, counselling, or training. Sessions are either free, paid for by Hereford BID or Hereford BID will contribute toward the full price.

Garry Jones Coaching

Offer: 1hr session with Garry Jones Coaching plus pre-questionnaire review – normally £100. 

Your one-hour session with Garry will be preceded by a simple questionnaire exploring the issues that are on your mind – personal worry over your business, a life event that is causing pain or even techniques to overcome a problem that is affecting you. Whatever the issue, Garry will provide an expert listening ear, set in a confidential setting in central Hereford, where you can talk openly to a professional.

About Garry Jones Coaching

Garry Jones is a Transformational Life-Coach, Martial Arts Master, an International Speaker, and number one bestselling author. He worked for twenty years in private industry, starting on the shop floor to eventually become responsible for over 1000 staff members.  Services for Independent Living (SIL)

Offer: £50 contribution towards a 2-day course, online or in person, on the Mental Health First Aid Accredited Course. You pay £100, we pay £50, total £150 per place.

Businesses across the world and in particular the UK, increasingly recognising the importance of good mental health amongst their staff and the multiple benefits this can bring to them and the organisation. In recognition of this growing need, an internationally renowned course has been established, simply called Mental Health First Aid (or MHFA for short), which is available to BID members at a heavily discounted price, subsidised by the Hereford BID with a generous discount from SIL. The normal cost is £330, but is heavily discounted to £150 of which the BID pay £50.

During the 2-day course, your MHFA England trainer, Euan McPherson, will not teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

The Adult MHFA England course is for everyone aged 16 upwards. Your sessions will be delivered by a quality assured ‘Instructor Member’ who has attended the MHFA Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn.

About Euan McPherson, CEO of SIL

Euan McPherson is Chief Executive of Services For independent Living (SIL), a successful Herefordshire based charity which supports disabled people to live independently and engage in their communities.

Euan has lived experience of mental ill health, is an ambassador for mental health and an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor. His first-hand knowledge and experience adds to the value and impact to the Mental Health First Aid Courses he facilitates.

Terms and conditions - please note

  • By booking a session you agree to the terms and conditions of the offer
  • All courses and sessions must be booked and used between January and March 27th, 2022
  • Booking should be made directly with our providers using the contact email provided
  • All sessions are private and confidential between you and the provider
  • For the purpose of auditing, Hereford BID will record the business and provider used
  • Courses may be booked up to the total value specified. No cash equivalent, refund or change is offered
  • You are free to book additional sessions beyond the offer – this forms no part of this agreement and is between you and the provider
  • Businesses booking onto the MHFA session must pay £100 in advance to SIL Care, with the balance paid from Hereford BID of £50 directly to the provider
  • If the appointment is not kept, Hereford BID cannot be liable for the costs involved which will be due in full to the provider

Offer: meet with Reverend Andy Dodwell, Associate Minister at St Peter and St James, to talk or reflect upon issues that you would like to discuss.

Whether you are a business owner, employee or member of the public, Andy is happy to offer a listening ear. Andy is also able to offer Kintsugi Hope wellbeing group sessions to businesses - find more information here.

About Andy Dodwell

Rev’d Andy Dodwell is the associate vicar at St Peter’s Church, Hereford where he works as part of a project providing chaplaincy and support in colleges and businesses in the city. Andy has a passion to see individuals and communities flourish, living well rather than merely coping. He is a trained Mental Health and Wellbeing supporter and has many years of experience supporting people of all backgrounds through times of challenge and crisis.

Before moving to Hereford in 2020 he worked for 10yrs as a vicar in North Devon and previously as a youth worker and outdoors activity coach. He lives in Hereford with his family and will often be found walking, cycling or kayaking along the river or in the hills.

  • When booking please inform Andy Dodwell which business you are and that you’re responding to this offer in partnership with Hereford BID
  • All sessions will be conducted during daytime working hours within the centre of Hereford where possible.
  • The cost of these sessions and Andy’s time has been covered by St Peter’s Church- there is no charge to end users or Hereford BID.
