Hereford Halloween Spooktacular!
This October, Hereford City Life are celebrating spooky season in spectacular style, with a fun-packed Halloween event and activities that are not to be missed.
From a freaky scarecrow trail to a wicked Zombie Trail parade, there's lots of spooky fun to be had in Hereford this Halloween.
On 29th October, immerse yourself in a Halloween event like no other! Celebrate the spooky season in style at this fun, family event in the city centre.
Herefordshire Carved Pumpkin Competition
Show off your creative skills by entering a carved pumpkin into the Carved Pumpkin Competition! Simply bring your carved pumpkin to the Hereford City Life stand in High Town between 10am and 2pm to enter. Categories are:
- Best in Show - our judges are looking for brilliant designs and impressive execution. Prizes will be awarded to the Best in Show for ages 6 and under, and ages 7+.
- Most Spook-tastic - impress the judges with your creepiest halloween designs! 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes available.
The winners will be announced at 2:30pm, after the judges have made cast their votes.
Fantastic Performances & Activities
From live music to face painting, there will be tons to see and do across High Town, the Old Market and Maylord Orchards. Discover great photo opportunities at the Halloween Gardens, get your face painted, and be amazed by jugglers, fire eaters and acrobatic performers.
The day’s performances will culminate in a wicked Zombie Crawl! Get dressed up and join this mesmerising parade through the city, with spooky walkabout performers, fire eaters, zombies and much more.
Make sure you dress up in your spookiest outfit! Prizes are available for:
- Ultimate Spooky Showstopper - a hair-raising costume that makes the judges stop in their tracks!
- Best Dressed - a costume with great attention to detail and tons of Halloween flair!

10:00 – Best Carved Pumpkin Competition opens to receive entries
11:00 – Street Performances begin at Old Market, Maylord Orchards & High Town
– Live Halloween Band begin in High Town
13:00 – Zombie Crawl begins, meet outside City Life tent in High Town
14:30 – Judging concludes for the Best Carved Pumpkin Competition
Gruesome Groceries Scarecrow Trail
Hereford’s Scarecrow Trail is returning for another year! Throughout Half Term, 22nd to 30th October, visitors can use the LoyalFree app to travel around the city hunting for the Gruesome Groceries scarecrows hidden in local businesses. Once all scarecrows have been discovered and their riddles answered, you can collect a fun prize from Hereford Tourist Information Centre.
